Happy Dependence Day!

Happy Dependence Day!

No, I didn’t mean Independence Day.  Although, I hope you and your family had a wonderful 4th of July holiday weekend!  I meant happy Dependence Day!  You see, I’ve been depending on Jesus for 20 years.  There have been some hard days, but these have also been the richest days of my life.  I’m not as dependent on the LORD as I should be, but I keep striving, praying, seeking, and surrendering more and more to Him.  I’m not where I should be, but I depend on Jesus more than I did 20 years ago as I continue to lay my life down for the LORD.

How about you?  Who are you dependent on?

Many depend on money (their job or bank account), many depend on their spouse or significant other, some depend on their fix (their bottle or their drug), some depend on their political party or the power and might of the US military, and others depend on their escape (their fantasy).  Did I miss what you’re dependent on?  Oh there are many more, but nothing compares to being dependent on Jesus.  He never fails!

I’ve tried a lot of the dependencies man relies on.  My youth, my strength, my intellect (that one was short lived), and many others.  They all fail.  Every one of these dependencies at one point or another will fail you.  Guaranteed!

Jesus never fails.  Not yesterday, not today, and not tomorrow.  He cannot fail you.  It’s not in His nature to leave His children in spiritual want.  His word says, “He will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).  He may say no or He may say not now, but He will never leave you.

If you’re not depending on Jesus, you may be in for some disappointment.  Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow.  It may not come until Judgement Day, but it will come.  Today is a good day to start depending on Jesus.

So consider how much you depend on the LORD.  No matter how much or little you currently depend on Jesus you can depend on Him more than you currently do.  He wants to provide for you and to bless you with His amazing grace.

Here is to many more Dependence Days to come.  It’s a day you get to celebrate 365 days a year.

Until we meet again – Love like Jesus!
